Porcelain Veneers Case Study: Lacey’s Smile Makeover
Many patients visit the Charlotte dental office of Dr. Patrick J. Broome, DMD, hoping to repair damage done to their teeth in workplace accidents. Often, their general dentists do not have the necessary cosmetic dentistry expertise to properly treat patients with serious smile makeover needs.
In this case study we will detail our patient Lacey’s smile makeover journey. Lacey suffered a workplace fall that broke two of her front teeth. Lacey said, “I had gone to my personal dentist … he didn’t give me any good sign of repairing the teeth.” Her personal dentist did not feel the damage was reparable and said that her expectations were “way too high.” In Lacey’s words, her previous dentist said perfection was “not necessarily an option” due to the extent of the damage to her teeth.
Luckily for Lacey, a friend referred her to Charlotte Center for Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Broome designed a custom treatment plan to fully restore her beautiful smile. Lacey is thrilled with her smile makeover results, gushing, “As you can see, my teeth are perfect; they’re better than they started.”
Lacey now advises those who need a Charlotte dentist to go straight to Dr. Broome.
Lacey’s Smile Makeover Treatment Plan
Dr. Broome removed Lacey’s original dental bonding and rebuilt her damaged teeth with custom-designed porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers are thin, stain-resistant shells that blend naturally with the surrounding teeth. Veneers are bonded to your teeth with a cement-like paste and are indistinguishable from your natural teeth. They can last 10 to 20 years with routine dental care. The final result is thin and not at all bulky, as demonstrated by the unique edge view photo to the left.
Dr. Broome also further improved Lacey’s smile by performing gum sculpting with state-of-the-art laser dentistry techniques utilizing the advanced BIOLASE Waterlase iPlus system. With the Waterlase, Dr. Broome can perform soft-tissue procedures such as gum sculpting without causing the patient any pain or bleeding.
Dr. Broome’s treatment plan fully resolved the broken teeth and also improved the overall symmetry of her smile. These photos show each step of Lacey’s smile makeover journey:
Lacey Pre-Treatment with Original Bonding (top right): Lacey came to Dr. Broome with dental bonding that still left her broken teeth noticeably crooked. Dr. Broome removed the bonding before treatment.
Lacey Post-Treatment (bottom right): Dr. Broome gave Lacey a straight new smile that shows absolutely no signs of trauma. He also performed gum sculpting to further improve her smile’s appearance.
Lacey Post-Treatment Full Face: Lacey now smiles with confidence and pride.
