Food in Charlotte

Many places have a reputation for specializing in a certain type of cuisine, and Charlotte is one of them. The city of Charlotte, along with the overall state of North Carolina, is very well known for their BBQ and craft breweries. A popular BBQ chain that is well known among residents is Macā€™s Speed Shop, which serves heaping trays of different kinds of smoked meats. They tout their world championship BBQ title that they earned in 2005, and based on the thousands of reviews garnering a near 5 star rating, it is no surprise. They have a total of seven locations in the state of North Carolina, and one of them is located in the South End, a popular shopping district in Charlotte. In addition to BBQ, Charlotte is very passionate about their beer. Charlotte is home to many local breweries that make their own beer, and based on the opinions of the locals, they are tough to beat. These beers are so delicious, that sometimes, you can even find them in Charlotte's amusement parks. Some of the famous breweries are the NoDa Brewing Company, Birdsong Brewing Co, and Lenny Boy Brewing Co. These breweries view beer as an art, and they go to great lengths to come up with innovative beers. For example, Birdsong Brewing Co is famous for their Jalapeno pale ale, which uses real chopped jalapeno peppers to give the drink a bit of a spiced up flavor and a crisp feel. However, despite the use of jalapeno peppers, it doesnā€™t add any spicy heat. Regardless, it has grown to be very popular in Charlotte, and it is considered a must try for visitors.
