Oral Sedation

Oral Sedation

At Charlotte Center for Cosmetic Dentistry, we understand that for many people, even the idea of a dentist's appointment can be nerve-racking. Unfortunately, dental anxiety can prevent patients from getting the quality care they need for healthy, beautiful teeth. In addition to specially designing and decorating our office to feel like a spa, with its treatment suites and luxurious plush memory foam-lined dental chairs, we are also proud to offer sedationĀ dentistry to help ease any fear or anxiety about spending any amount of time in the dentist's chair. Oral sedation involves one or a combination of pills given in our office usually an hour before your planned procedure starts. This creates a relaxed, and some say drowsy, while still awake feeling. This moderate form of sedation can make any necessary dental procedure much more comfortable. It is not uncommon for patients to feel so relaxed that they fall into a light sleep. Oral sedation is always combined with a local anesthetic, which numbs the area of the mouth that the dentist is working on, eliminating any pain or discomfort. Many of our patients only faintly remember their appointment and sleep well the night after their treatment. For more information dental anxiety treatment, visit ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
